Horse Creek Ranch Fly Fishing Trips

Guided Trip Options & Gear

Fish On

If you're more interested in catching than learning or you feel that your fly fishing tool box is full, this is the trip for you.  While I’m always happy to share the knowledge I’ve gained, the focus for fly fishers during this outing will be to actively pursue trout without significant chunks of time set aside for instruction.

Technique Tour

Becoming a successful fly fisher is directly connected to a well-rounded knowledge base.  This guided trip is focused on instruction for rigging techniques, casting methods, fly presentation, food sources and more; while actively pursuing still water fish.

Youth Intro

If you’d like to introduce your child or children to fly fishing, but have no interest in fishing yourself, this is the trip for you.  Parents who do not fish are welcome to join the trip free of charge, aside from a ten dollar lunch fee. The locations and introductory techniques will be focused on creating a highly positive first time experience for young fly fishers.  Standard daily fishing rates apply for each child that will be fishing.

Discover Tenkara

While Tenkara Fly Fishing has a long history, it has recently gained a foot hold in the United States.  Many of the numerous miles of small creeks and streams on Horse Creek Ranch are ideal for this style of fishing.   This guided trip begins with an introduction to the simple equipment and techniques used.  Following this introduction clients will spend the bulk of the day applying these tactics in the pursuit of creek dwelling trout.

For all guided trips the following will be provided for each fly fisher:

Sage Fly Rod, Sage lined reel, leaders, tippet, flies, boots, waders and a lunch (drinks, barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs, condiments, chips, cookies and fruit).

**Fly Fishers are welcome to bring their own fly fishing equipment if they prefer.

What fly fishers should bring with them:

Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, waterproof jacket, warm under layer. At nearly 8,000 feet the weather conditions can change rapidly and having extra warmth on hand can make for a more enjoyable day.
